Exavier Prente Logan (Nook) Co-Owner of Change The Game
Nook Logan, a graduate of Natchez (MS) High, makes his off season home in Houston, Texas. Originally selected by NYY in the 40th round of 1st-Year Player Draft that June, Nook chose to attend Copiah Lincoln CC in Wesson, MS. In 2000, helped the Co-Lin to NJCAA Division II World Series, where the Wolfpack finished 4th. In 2000, set LCCC's single-season records w/6 triples, 47 steals & 84 runs scored.
2007 Career Highlights
Nook performed well in 2nd complete big league campaign (also 2005 w/DET) and established career highs w/86 hits, 18 doubles, 21 RBI & 325 at-bats. He gave up switch hitting June 6 & batted exclusively right side the rest of the way. He ranked 2nd among Nationals & matched career high with 23 stolen bags. Ranked among NL leaders in infield hits (7th, 25), bunt hits (5th, 9) & batting with RISP & 2 outs (9th, .366) & started 79 games, all in CF. Nook also got the starting nod in 51 of Washington's 74 contests after the All-Star break. Nook ranked 2nd among Nationals w/.284 batting average (61-for-215) after the ASB. He led Washington w/14 2nd-half stolen bases...in 28 games batting leadoff, the first of which came June 30, Washington finished 13-15...hit .241 (28-for-116) when starting as Nationals' leadoff hitter. He was Manny Acta's Opening Day CF on April 2 vs. FLA, but left game w/a left foot strain after making a 4th-inning catch of a Dan Uggla drive while crashing into the CF wall and was placed on the 15-Day DL April 3, & missed 29 games before being reinstated from the DL on May 6...hit .455 (15-for-33) during career-best 9-game hitting streak, August 3-11 and stole at least one base in a career-high 4 straight games, August 4-7...went 5-for-6 w/a double & 3 RBI in first career start at Minute Maid Park, August 21 thus, posted the franchise's first 5-hit game since the Expos Mark Grudzielanek turned the trick, May 8, 1998 vs. COL. Nook was successful on 8 straight stolen-base attempts, June 6-July 25...went 4-for-10 (.400) in the pinch...hit .320 (33-for-103) in 28 games in August, ranking 2nd among Nationals...batted .305 (40-for-131) against right-handed pitchers. Game-By-Game Highlights: 2-hit, 2-stolen bag, 2 RBI effort, May 20 vs. BAL, included game-winning 2-run single w/2 outs in 8th...the 2-run single erased a 3-2 deficit in game eventually won, 4-3...laced decisive 2-run ground-rule double in a 5-4 win, May 25 at STL...scored a team season-high 4 runs to become just the 3rd National to do so since MLB returned to DC in '05 (Marlon Byrd, Sept. 27, 2005 at FLA & Alfonso Soriano, June 8, 2006 vs.PHI)...matched career high w/3 RBI, August 29 at LAD.
2006 Career Highlights
Nook spent majority of season in the Tigers' minor league system, but seized late-season opportunity w/the Nationals after being acquired in trade on September 1. Nook hit .300 (27-for-90) with 3 doubles, a triple, a homer, 8 RBI and 2 stolen bases in 27 games w/Nationals and in less than a month w/Washington, legged out 8 bunt hits to tie for 10th in MLB (7th in the NL). Defensively, Nook locked down center field & the gaps for the Nationals, making numerous diving catches to thwart opponent rallies...after being acquired, Washington pitchers allowed just 8.96 hits per game...before the trade, Nationals pitchers allowed 9.6 hits per game...hit safely in 21 of 25 starts, including 11 consecutive starts. With 27 hits, Nook ranked 3rd among Nationals in September/October.
2005 Career Highlights
Nook made the Opening Day roster as a spare outfielder, but was pressed into duty when Magglio Ordonez went on disabled list. He had 3 hits & robbed the Orioles of 2 home runs April 19 at Camden Yards, part of an eight-game hitting streak that earned him the center field job while Ordonez was out. He went 8-for-12 in a 3-game series at Texas May 9-11, making a highlight dash home from 1st base on a wild pitch & throwing error.
2004 Career Highlights
Nook spent majority of season as starting center fielder at Triple A Toledo, before seeing his 1st major league action in two separate stints with Detroit -- tabbed the Detroit Sports Broadcasters' Association Tigers Rookie of the Year...Led all Tigers minor leaguers & ranked 2nd in International League w/38 stolen bases, while also ranking 5th w/9 triples. He batted .188 (9x48) w/5 stolen bases in 1st 13 games. .Stole a season-high 2 bases & matched high at Louisville,. Scored a season-high 3 runs April 28 vs. Columbus. Collected 3hits & season-high 4 RBI April 29 vs. Columbus. .Knocked out season-high 4hits May 28 at Ottawa. Ripped his 1st major league triple on Sept 16 at Cleveland...also tripled on October 3 vs. Tampa Bay...Batted .407 (11x27) w/a double & 2 triples when putting the 1st pitch in play...Batted .145 (8x55) w/2 strikes, fanning 24 times...Tied for 2nd among American League rookies w/8 stolen bases.
